The Director of Food Inspection in Dubai Municipality, Sultan Al-Tahir, stated that the municipality implemented intensive inspection campaigns that included food storage warehouses in Dubai, to ensure compliance with food safety procedures and measures, especially Ramadan commodities.

Al-Taher told «Emirates Today» that “all municipal inspectors make periodic visits to consumer complexes and popular kitchens to ensure compliance with preventive controls and procedures, such as physical spacing, wearing masks and gloves.”

He added that «the municipality stressed the necessity of providing signs that specify the distances for spacing on the floors, in addition to making sure that the institutions apply the requirements of the occupancy rate, which should not exceed 30% within the institution, and that there are daily follow-up records on the health of workers and record sterilization and disinfection operations, in addition to making sure Apply food safety requirements to all foods present in establishments during receipt, preparation, storage and display at correct temperatures, and apply hygiene and sterilization procedures to prevent cross-contamination and pest control ».

It should be noted that the sterilization operations of the sidewalks, parking lots and outdoor patios of the associations in the Emirate of Dubai were started in conjunction with the national campaign for sterilization, and according to the sterilization schedule of the emirate’s regions, using equipment that is commensurate with that, such as motorcycles that were specially developed for this purpose.

The municipality issued a set of guidelines and generalizations to the food establishments regarding the physical spacing, and the precautionary cleaning and disinfection procedures to be followed in order to prevent the emerging corona virus.
