Since the beginning of April this year, Kuwait launched a month-long campaign called "Leave Safely" to deport immigrants in violation of the residency law, as part of its measures to combat the spread of the emerging corona virus (Covid-19).

The reception centers for violators are still witnessing a great demand from workers who wish to return to their countries, investing the decision to exempt from financial fines for the period of the violation, and providing free travel tickets.

The decision was issued in late March and continues for a month, so that violators are also given the opportunity to return to Kuwait legally.

According to statistics of the Ministry of the Interior, about 11,000 violating workers have benefited from the "Leave Safely" initiative as of last Wednesday, of which 2,430 Filipinos (1,882 women, 350 men and 198 children) have left for their country, and the rest of the offenders are still in shelters.

The decision of the Ministry of Interior, which began implementation at the beginning of April this year and lasts for 30 days, specified five days for five nationalities, which are in order: Filipino, Egyptian, Indian, Bengali and Sri Lankan, while the last five days are devoted to the rest of the nationalities.

The Director General of Public Relations and Security Media, Brigadier General Tawheed Al-Kandari, described the decision as a golden opportunity for violators to stay for a month.

Al-Kandari, in a press statement, called on the violators to "take advantage of the decision to exempt from the financial fines incurred by them, and to apply to the Status Adjustment Center."

"What is required of every expatriate present in Kuwait that is in violation of the residency law, and he must be absent and fined, to take advantage of the opportunity so that he can leave the country in safety and security."

And Al-Kandari said: This is a campaign we called "Leave safely", and it is actually leaving safely, it will not cost the violator any travel expenses, and he can return to the country if he leaves during this period.
