The Government , through the Ministry of Health , publishes this Friday an order in the Official State Gazette (BOE) that includes the modification of the procedure for notification of epidemiological information that the autonomous communities must send to this department, "to ensure the crisis management efficiency ", and which establishes that all deaths due to Covid-19 must be reported, regardless of where the death occurs.

The modification comes after Catalonia unilaterally decided to change the criteria regarding the consideration of deceased by Covid-19 and other communities questioned whether the figures that are being disseminated reflect reality, considering that deaths from coronaviruses may be greater.

The order published today by the BOE explains that the evolution of the situation of the health crisis that develops in the context of the state of alarm requires adapting and modifying the procedure for notification of epidemiological information that the autonomous communities must send to the Ministry of Health.

The modification affects the data tables corresponding to epidemiological information and to the hiring of human resources and the availability of material to face the Covid-19 pandemic.

In addition to the number of deaths due to coronavirus, regardless of the place where the death occurred, the Autonomous Communities must send every day, between 20 and 21 hours, the total accumulated cases confirmed by diagnostic test ( PCR or rapid test of antibodies) including symptomatic and asymptomatic, as well as cumulative cases with symptoms at the time of the test.

Also the confirmed total accumulations that have been admitted to hospital centers or other centers enabled for patient care, including in intensive care units (ICU ), and those that have been admitted to the ICU, including the expanded ICU beds for the response to the Covid-19.
