The coronavirus has killed more than 90,000 people in Europe, according to a report established Thursday April 16 by AFP.

With a total of 90,180 deaths and 1,047,279 people infected, the European continent is the most affected by the pandemic, which has killed 137,499 people worldwide.

The highest number of deaths was recorded in Italy (21,645), followed by Spain (19,130), France (17,167) and the United Kingdom (12,868).

In total, 2,083,551 people worldwide were infected. However, the number of cases detected only reflects a fraction of the actual figure. Many countries only test people in need of hospital care.
