The Generalitat changes its method of calculation and raises the deaths from coronavirus to 7,097

The Health Department of the Generalitat has modified its system of deaths from coronavirus and brings the number up to 7,097 (until yesterday they were 3,756 when only the data from the health system were counted).

The Catalan Ministry has turned to funeral service companies to communicate "individually and with complete reliability and completeness the number of deaths from Covid-19 in residences and homes", a reason that would justify the increase in the number of deaths, which also includes "cases not classifiable due to lack of information". Of the 7,097, 1,810 have died in a residence, 62 in a social health center and 456 in homes. The rest of cases are dead in hospitals or the mentioned cases without classification.

The Health Department has reported that 99 people have died of coronavirus in Catalan hospitals in recent hours, bringing the total figure to 3,855 deaths in health centers, the scale used so far by the Government. Likewise, 2,870 new Covid-19 positives have been confirmed in the community, for which 39,375 infections have already been counted. Of the total positives, 5,712 are health professionals and 5,755 nursing home professionals.

On the other hand, there are a total of 55,457 possible cases of coronavirus infection, information that until now was not offered. They are people who have symptoms and that a medical professional classifies as a possible case.
