According to a report by the Korean Central News Agency, the third meeting of the 14th Supreme People ’s Assembly of North Korea was held on the 12th at the Wanshoutai Assembly Hall.
The meeting reviewed and passed the North Korean Recycling Law, the Distance Education Law, and the Living Conditions Guarantee Law for Demobilized Officers.
The meeting discussed the work of the North Korean cabinet in 2019 and its tasks in 2020, and adopted the North Korean state budget for 2020.
In addition, the meeting also approved a number of appointments and removals. It is worth noting that Li Yonghao, the former foreign minister of North Korea, was removed from the post of member of the Council of State, while Li Shanquan, the current foreign minister, was appointed as the new member of the Council of State.
According to the Korean Constitution, Kim Jong-un, as the chairman of the State Council elected by the Supreme People ’s Assembly of North Korea, was not elected as a member of the Supreme People ’s Assembly, and therefore did not participate in this meeting. (Headquarters reporter Dong Haitao)
