The Director of Meteorology at the National Center for Meteorology, Mohamed Al-Abri, stressed that what is being raised is that the period of isolation or social divergence, which the population of the entire world is living in, as part of the precautionary measures to confront the outbreak of the Corona pandemic, has had positive climatic effects, including an improvement in the ozone layer and lower levels Heat, is an exaggeration that has no basis or scientific basis, stressing that the precautionary measures will not be long-term, and therefore will not have an effect on temperature or the ozone layer.

Al-Abri said to «Emirates Today»: «There are three factors that can affect the temperature of the earth, the first is emissions and pollutants resulting from dust, fumes, factory gases and car exhausts, and despite the lack of these emissions at the global level, as a result of the travel ban imposed on most countries, but the effects Low emissions to ozone, it takes very long time.

He added that the second factor is that not all emissions gases affect the ozone layer, as this layer has recovered relatively after the ban on the use of CFCs.

He explained that the third influencing factor is carbon dioxide, saying, "Reducing its emissions is good, but the effect of this reduction on climate change is not actually happening in the short term."

95 "rain" sorties with 2171 local torch

The National Meteorological Center announced the implementation of its 95 sorties to vaccinate clouds during the first quarter of this year, covering most of the country’s regions, during which 2,171 burners were used by the Emirates Weather Improvement Factory.

The Director of the National Meteorological Center and President of the Asian Meteorological Union, Dr. Abdullah Ahmed Al-Mandoos, stressed the National Meteorological Center’s keenness to play a leading role in this field, through the implementation of rain-based operations based on studied scientific and technical foundations, pointing out that the UAE was one of the first countries to adopt Area-wide vaccination techniques and processes.

Al-Mandoos said: "The National Meteorological Center, through its network of partners locally and globally, was able to establish its leading position in this field, based on its developed infrastructure."
