He had forgotten his exit certificate, which was compulsory in these times of confinement: a Greek supporter in his sixties of AEK Athens was fined, but his club paid for it and even offered him a subscription.

As he does regularly, this loyal fan was walking near his home in Nea Philadelphia, on the outskirts of Athens, to see the progress of work on the new stadium of AEK. This 32,000-seat enclosure is due to be inaugurated next year.

But the forgetting of his certificate and a meeting with the police earned him a fine of 150 euros for non-compliance with the confinement linked to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Moved by this story, the owner of AEK, Dimitris Melissanidis, asked the club to pay the fine and issue him a subscriber card for the next season, reports Inaek.com

The team leaders contacted the supporter 's daughter to announce the news while calling on the senior to respect the confinement rules.

"We are staying at home, we are staying in good health and our new stadium will be there and waiting for us when we have overcome this ordeal," the club wrote.

2,011 cases of coronavirus have been detected so far in the country, where 90 people have died.
