  • Local traders, artisans and producers are invited to sell their products on a common Internet platform.
  • This will be hosted by the national service provider Mavillemonshopping.fr.
  • The project was accelerated due to the Covid-19 crisis.

The project had been in the cards for several months. The crisis caused by the coronavirus finally accelerated its materialization. A "market place" accessible to all traders (food or not) but also artisans and producers of Loire-Atlantique will be launched early next week, announces the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), which is piloting the project. This merchant website will allow professionals to exhibit a selection of products online and offer their sale 24 hours a day via online payment.

The La Poste group's national platform Mavillemonshopping.fr was chosen as the service provider. The routing of the products will be carried out either by a withdrawal similar to the "drives", or by a home delivery. The deliverers will be employees of the La Poste group. They will be cycling as soon as possible.

“In this period of confinement where very many local shops are closed or operate in very degraded mode, it was imperative to engage
without delay a major action ”, justifies the CCI, which will mobilize 35 employees to support future registrants. The approach is supported by Nantes Métropole, La Carène, the departmental council and the Pays-de-la-Loire region.

"Save turnover"

The Plein center association, which brings together merchants from downtown Nantes, welcomes the initiative. “It is a tool that will give visibility to businesses. It is particularly important at this time to save the turnover. But, even after the crisis, I am convinced that e-commerce can bring a lot to the local level ”, defends Olivier Dardé, its president.

Initially, registration with Mavillemonshopping.fr is free for professionals. At the end of the health crisis, the platform will take a territorial form and commissions (around 5%) will be requested from each registered trader.

"It would be wrong not to adapt"

"For an independent trader, being on the web is essential," insists Stéphanie Durand, president of the Saint-Nazaire Shopping association. She speaks knowingly. Sixty Nazairian shops have already been listed for several months on Mavillemonshopping.fr.

“It allows us to better serve our customers, to gain visibility, to reach new consumers… It's like having a second store in fact! Consumption patterns have changed, it would be wrong not to adapt. Of course, it takes a little time. But there is also turnover to recover. "Stéphanie Durand adds:" This is the moment where ever to get started. Since the closure of businesses, those who are already on the Internet are the best equipped to resist. The others are unfortunately invisible. "
