Local time was caught yesterday (9th) on the remote island of Heart Island, near the Bronx, New York, USA, where workers in protective clothing gathered and buried several wooden coffins into the ground.
As the number of deaths in New York has risen rapidly, the capacity of the mortuary and freezer containers has reached the limit, and authorities have decided to make the entire island a temporary collective deposit.
In New York City's 2008 Pandemic Influenza Manual, it is said to have stated that "if the frozen storage facility is full, the body can be temporarily buried in Heart Island."
