A man has killed his brother - both in their 70s and single - in Riolobos (Cáceres) and later killed himself. The event occurred in the house where the two were confined together by Covid-19. For reasons that are unknown, and that the Civil Guard is currently investigating, one of them attacked the other with a knife while he was having breakfast, killing him.

The alleged assailant then committed suicide with the same knife. A body was found in the kitchen and the alleged murderer in the bathroom. According to the first data, none were infected with the coronavirus although, apparently, they sometimes suffered episodes of anguish and fear due to the coronavirus crisis and its incidence, especially in the elderly.

The bodies of the brothers have been found this past night by a niece of both. It was not until at night when they approached the house, as they usually did, to see how they were and bring them food. Both lived alone in the house but were usually assisted by their relatives. During the day, they had not been able to contact them by phone.

The Civil Guard is currently conducting inquiries to clarify the events, which could have occurred in the morning because breakfast was on the table. Apparently, both people suffered episodes of anguish and fear due to the coronavirus crisis and its incidence, especially in the elderly.

The mayor of Riolobos, José Pedro Rodríguez, lamented that "now we have to live this, in case we had little in the municipality with the pandemic."

The town of Riolobos in Cáceres (with around 1,300 inhabitants), located 26 kilometers from Plasencia, is shocked since they were two people from a respected family in the municipality. The City Council has decreed a week of official mourning and the municipal flags will be flown at half-staff.
