In Villeneuve-d'Ascq, in the North, an ephemeral room has been set up in the gallery of a shopping center to accommodate victims. From the first hours of her installation, Monday morning, a woman took advantage of a few minutes outside the home to alert her to the violence she was undergoing.
"We received a woman who was the victim of a very violent act from her husband, which led him to spend a night outside and to come to the reception point early in the morning. We were able to put this woman at home. shelter in one of our emergency accommodation, "says Delphine Beauvais, director of the Solidarité Femmes Accueil association, one of the three associations that run this reception point.

The idea for this room was imagined by the Secretary of State responsible for equality between men and women, Marlène Schiappa, from Voix du Nord . The three victims' associations (also with the Information Center on the Rights of Women and Families and the Louise-Michel Association) also encourage witnesses to report any domestic violence.

In three days, ten women were taken care of. Proof that the initiative is working, while domestic violence increased by 32% during the first week of confinement, according to figures from the Interior Ministry.
