The councilor for Equality, Seniors, Children and Development Cooperation of the Puente Genil City Council (Córdoba), Mariola González , has presented her resignation after she participated in a mass celebrated by the Brotherhood of Holy Supper in the town last Holy Monday , despite the state of alarm, which has motivated the opening of the file by the Local Police .

In a statement released by local media, the councilor explains that she has made the decision to renounce her mayor's act for "the events that occurred" last Monday in the Parish of San José.

The former exedil has indicated that her attendance at mass was "an unsuccessful situation", although she remembers that the parish of San José celebrates masses at 12:00 each day " with the doors open ". González denounces that, for this reason, he has received "slander, offenses and insults poured towards me." It must be remembered that the decree of the state of alarm does allow the celebration of this type of mass, although not those of a funeral nature, as long as a distance of at least one meter is guaranteed among the faithful. Despite this precept, the confinement orders are clear: to leave the house only for matters of first necessity.

In the letter, González has stated that his decision to resign "has not been easy because he had put" all his hope in this new stage at the head of the Department of Equality, Seniors, Children and Development Cooperation. "However, he has acknowledged that the circumstances have affected her "personally" since both she and her family have received "insults, offenses and slander" .

In addition to Gónzalez, the mass also had the presence of two other people dressed as Nazarenes and four assistants.
