The British government declined to disclose today who is responsible for the nuclear code in the country while Prime Minister Boris Johnson is in intensive care due to the complications of Covid-19 disease.

Michael Goff, Minister of Cabinet Affairs at the BBC, was asked whether Foreign Secretary Dominic Rapp had received the nuclear code and said, "There are advanced protocols."
"I can't really talk about national security issues," he added.

Britain is one of the five powers in the world that officially possesses nuclear weapons and has four nuclear submarines armed with Trident 2D5 ballistic missiles equipped with nuclear warheads.

Britain also has about 215 nuclear warheads, but only about 120 of them are available for use.

Only Britain's Prime Minister has the right to order a nuclear strike. This is transferred to a British nuclear submarine with a set of special codes.
