As France enters its fourth week of confinement and has passed the 10,000 dead mark, Interior Minister Christophe Castaner asked the prefects to " examine on a case-by-case basis " and in conjunction with the mayors the " need to tighten up the measures ”.

The reaction was quick in the capital. From Wednesday April 8, all individual sporting activities will be prohibited between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. The objective is to limit the outings of certain Parisians who would take advantage of the “sports activity” box in their certificate to actually go for a stroll in the sun. True athletes can therefore continue to exercise their activities early in the morning or in the evening.

As Anne Hidalgo's first assistant, Emmanuel Grégoire, indicated on her Twitter account, families wishing to take a walk with their children are not affected by this measure taken by the town hall. Parisians who take out their pet either.

Wearing a mandatory mask in certain cities

In Biarritz, on the Atlantic coast, measures have also been taken to tighten the containment. A municipal decree now prohibits sitting on a bench for more than two minutes. Again, the idea is to encourage residents to stay at home without succumbing to the temptation of reading in the sun for example.

Some cities in France are taking new measures. From this Wednesday, April 8, residents of Sceaux over the age of 10 must obligatorily protect their noses and mouths, by wearing a surgical mask, a homemade cloth mask, a scarf or even a scarf, specifies l 'municipal decree. The city of Hauts-de-Seine will thus become the first city in Ile-de-France to make it compulsory to wear a mask.

Other municipalities will apply the same measure. This is the case of the city of Nice, in the south-east of France. Its mayor Christian Estrosi has announced that it will be able to provide a washable and reusable mask for one month to all residents of Nice within ten days. Therefore, there too, a municipal decree will make the wearing of the mask compulsory for each exit in the public space. In the event of non-compliance with these orders, the police may charge offenders.
