At the Japanese government's countermeasures meeting yesterday, Prime Minister Abe ordered an emergency declaration.

[Abe / Japan Prime Minister (Yesterday): (Government) We will revise the basic corona policy to issue an emergency declaration.]

Prime Minister Abe, who had been cautious about proclaiming the adverse effects on the economy in the meantime, has changed the spread of large cities such as Tokyo.

Tokyo's new confirmers have passed over 100 people each day for two days on the weekend, with more than half of those confirming the path of infection is unknown.

The emergency will be officially declared after a report from the parliament today. The area is targeted for Tokyo, the metropolitan area including the three prefectures, and Osaka, Hyogo, and Fukuoka, where collective infection has been confirmed.

The period is set for one month until the end of the so-called 'Golden Week'.

When an emergency is declared, municipalities can use buildings and land without the owner's consent to expand medical facilities, and they can purchase and stock medicines and food directly.

However, legal limitations are being pointed out, such as the inability to forcibly prohibit the outing of residents and the prohibition of the use of multi-use facilities and staying on request.
