The former Serbian coach of Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid and FC Barcelona Radomir Antic died on Monday at the age of 71, these Spanish clubs announced early in the evening.

"Real Madrid CF (...) is sorry to learn of the death of Radomir Antic, who was Real Madrid's coach from March 1991 to January 1992, (...) and offers its sincere condolences to his family and friends, "announced the merengue club via press release Monday evening.

"Atlético Madrid is in mourning after the death of our ex-coach Radomir Antic," the other Madrid club said on Twitter.

The daily Marca, the best-selling in Spain, said on its website that the technician, the only one to have led the three giants of Spanish football in his career, died from a long illness.

Antic officiated on the bench of Atlético Madrid between 1995 and 2000, and left a trace with the club to have been the coach who led the "Colchoneros" towards the double Championship-Cup of the King in 1995-1996.

In the second half of the 2002-2003 season, he also coached Barça, who also issued a message of condolence.

Radomir Antic was the coach of the Serbian national team from 2008 to 2010, the period during which he led him to a victory against Germany (1-0) at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, his main fact d 'weapons in selection.

During his playing career, Radomir Antic defended the colors of Sloboda Uzice (1967-1968) and Partizan Belgrade in Serbia (1968-1976), Fenerbache in Turkey (1976-1978), Real Zaragoza in Spain ( 1978-1980), and finally from Luton Town, England (1980-1984).

On its website, the Serbian football federation (FSS) regrets the disappearance of "one of the best Serbian coaches". "All those who knew Radomir Antic will now have a void in their hearts, and Serbia can be proud to have had such a representative of the country abroad, a real source of pride," added the FSS.
