An experimental result showed that ivermectin, an insect repellent that has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), has proven to kill Corona19 virus within 48 hours.

Dr. Kylie Wagstaff of the Biomedical Discovery Research Institute at Monish University in Australia reported the results of an experiment that revealed that the cell cultured corona19 virus disappeared within 48 hours of exposure to ivermectin, according to Science Daily.

Dr. Wagstaff said that even after a single dose, the RNA of the Corona 19 virus was significantly reduced after 24 hours, and after 48 hours, all of the RNA disappeared completely.

However, he explained that this is a result of cell culture experiments, so it is necessary to conduct a clinical trial directly administered to Corona19 patients.

Ivermectin is a widely used safe drug, but Dr. Hegstaff emphasized that it is necessary to first determine how much dose should be given to corona19 patients.

Ivermectin is a drug approved as an anthelmintic agent, but it has also been shown to work against a wide variety of viruses, including the AIDS, dengue, flu, and Zika viruses.

The results of this study were published in the latest issue of 'Antiviral Research'.
