The news is reported by the British public service company BBC which cites statistics from Johns Hopkins University.

The United States now has over 245,000 registered cases of infection, more than Spain and Italy combined. Over 5,900 people have died, just over 1,500 of them in New York City.

The burial offices in the city now find it difficult to take care of all the deceased as they enter the courthouses, the New York Post writes. The waiting time for crematoriums and burial sites is at least one week, often two, the magazine writes.

Fully on the brothels

According to Reuters, the authorities are looking for new temporary shelters when the ordinary ones are not enough, and the city's crematoriums have increased their working hours to catch up.

According to official forecasts, between 100,000 and 240,000 Americans will die in the pandemic, even if restrictions on moving outdoors are followed.

Mayor: Wear face mask

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio yesterday urged residents of the big city to wear some form of face protection to prevent the spread of infection, Reuters reports.

de Blasio said at a press conference that residents should cover their face in some way when outdoors and close to other people. However, it should not be such a face protection that medical care uses and needs. It could be "a scarf or something you make at home, like a bandana," de Blasio told CNN.

Trump: Scarf is OK

The CDC may eventually urge all Americans to wear face protection, at least those located in areas of social spread. President Donald Trump commented on the issue at his daily press conference.

-I think the CDC will come out with a recommendation and if you want to follow it is good, but it will not be mandatory, because some do not want mask for the face and it is OK. But if you want to use a scarf, that's good, Trump said.
