The De Geergymnasiet's restaurant program in Norrköping is now testing the students to cook themselves in their kitchens. The teacher is allowed to judge the results via the computer screen.

- I can't judge how it tastes, but the taste is not the most important thing here, it is better that they understand the principles, says Bruno Trôme, a teacher on the restaurant program. He misses the students in the school's kitchen and says that the teaching is suffering, partly because restaurant work is a team work where they help each other.

More students at the lessons

We have talked to principals at most upper secondary schools in Östergötland. They say that the theory lessons are going well, but in many places during the Easter holidays you should discuss how to manage the practical subjects. One positive thing about distance education is that attendance has improved in several schools:

- Some students come to their right with distance education and think it is quite quiet and nice to study from home, says Cecilia Gleisner, principal at De Geer- and Kungsgårdsgymnasiet.

Food with music

The students at De Geer's restaurant program have been allowed to submit films on dishes they have cooked. Stephanie Andersson Ekdahl added music to the movie she made where she cooked a pasta dish with béchamel sauce.

- Yes, it has to be music, it gets too boring otherwise, but it was a bit difficult to film myself when I was doing so I had to get help from my sister.
