In the United States, the worst global daily death toll from the virus has been recorded in the United States, while the epidemic continues to claim large numbers of victims in Europe, and the number of infected people in the world has exceeded one million.

Johns Hopkins University counted 1169 deaths between Wednesday evening and Thursday evening, the largest daily count in the world since the outbreak began late last year, taking the total to 5,911 deaths.

During the same period, there were an additional 30,000, which brings the number of infections among Americans to 240,000.

The previous daily record for the number of deaths due to the Corona virus was recorded on March 27 in Italy, with 969 deaths.

The acceleration of deaths in the United States comes at a time when the US Emergency Management Agency asked the Defense Department for 100,000 dead bags, the Pentagon said.

While the White House recently expected between 100,000 and 240,000 people to die from the virus, the US President warned two days ago of two painful weeks that his country could witness in terms of the spread of the Corona virus and its death toll.

The rise in deaths and injuries comes amid a rapidly deteriorating American economy that the Congressional Budget Office expects to contract by 28% year-on-year, with about ten million Americans losing their jobs in just two weeks.

US President Donald Trump faces increasing internal criticism of his administration’s performance in the face of the health and economic repercussions of the Corona crisis, while the White House announced that Trump underwent a second-time examination that proved free of the virus.

Globally, the death toll from the Coronavirus has risen to more than 51,000, about 75% of them in Europe, while infected people have exceeded a million around the world, compared to 210,000 recovered, at a time when about half of the human population lives in a stone in homes.

Italy tops the list of countries with the highest number of deaths with 13915 cases, followed by Spain with ten thousand and three cases, then France with 5387, while the United States ranks fourth with about six thousand cases.

In Italy, injuries exceeded 115,000, after more than five thousand new infections were recorded.

In Britain, 569 new deaths were recorded, bringing the total number of deaths to nearly two thousand, and 4,044 new injuries were announced, bringing the number of injured to more than 33,000.

In Spain, 616 new deaths were recorded, exceeding the number of deaths ten thousand, in addition to 6120 new injuries, bringing the number to 110 thousand and 238.

In France, the authorities counted 471 deaths during the past 24 hours, which brings the total deaths in the country since the start of the Corona proliferation crisis to 4,503 cases.

In Belgium, the authorities announced that 1,384 new HIV infections were registered, bringing the total number to 15,348, in addition to 183 new deaths, bringing the number to 1011.

Hundreds of new infections were recorded in Sweden, Denmark and Norway.

In Canada, the incidence of the Coronavirus has exceeded 10,000, while the number of deaths jumped to 127, which is a 21% increase.

Countries of the region

On the Arab level, the Saudi Ministry of Health announced the registration of 165 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections to more than 1880, and the authorities imposed a total curfew in the cities of Mecca and Medina.

The UAE Ministry of Health announced the registration of 210 new infections, bringing the total number of injuries to about 1020.

As for the Egyptian Ministry of Health, it recorded 86 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total to 865, with 201 recovering, and six deaths.

In Qatar, the Qatari Ministry of Health announced that 114 new cases of coronavirus were recorded, three deaths from the virus and one cure.

In the Sultanate of Oman, the authorities announced the registration of 21 new cases of the Coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases to about 230, compared to one death.

In Algeria, the authorities announced that the total number of deaths from the virus had risen to 63 after five new deaths were recorded, while 139 new infections were recorded, bringing the total number of cases to 986.

In Iraq, the death of two people with the virus has been announced, raising the number of deaths to 54, 44 new infections have been recorded, and 20 have recovered.

The total number of injuries in Morocco rose to 691 after 49 new injuries were recorded, and the total injuries in Tunisia increased to 455 after 33 new injuries were recorded.

In Jordan, 21 new cases were recorded, bringing the total to 299 compared to the recovery of nine cases.

For its part, the Israeli Ministry of Health indicated a sharp increase in the number of people infected with the Coronavirus after 765 new cases were recorded in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of people infected to 6857, including 34 deaths, while 107 cases are described as serious.

In Iran, the country hardest hit by the virus, 124 new deaths were recorded, bringing the total number to 3160, in addition to 2875 new infections, for a total of 50,468.

Local media reported that Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani was infected with the Coruna virus, while the Director General of Roads and Transport Organization in the Iranian capital, Tehran, Reza Nakhban, died of the virus.

Faced with the acceleration of the number of cases in the Middle East and exceeding sixty thousand cases, the World Health Organization stressed the countries of the region to move more quickly to stop the spread of the epidemic, otherwise the chances of containing it will diminish.

The return of the epidemic

In China, the head of the Communist Party Committee of Wuhan, China, said that city residents, the epicenter of the outbreak of the Coruna virus, should strengthen self-protection measures and avoid going out unless necessary.

In a statement released by the Wuhan city government, Wang Zhonglin said that the risk of a return of the Corona epidemic in the city remains great due to internal and external risks, and that prevention and control measures should be continued.

UN resolution

Meanwhile, the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday unanimously approved a resolution calling for "international cooperation" to combat Corona, the first text adopted by the world body since the outbreak of the epidemic, while the Security Council has yet to reach consensus in this regard.

The resolution, which Russia and four countries have tried to oppose, stresses "the need for full respect for human rights", and condemns "all forms of discrimination, racism and xenophobia in responding to the epidemic."

The UN resolution also stresses the central role of the United Nations in the current global health and economic crisis.
