The care in eastern Norrbotten is dependent on its Finnish employees. The region has identified 90 employees from Finland who are essential for the care in eastern Norrbotten.

"We feel it is a great threat that the Finnish government is now negotiating the commute to Sweden and we have understood that it is close to re-examining its decision," the regional director in Norrbotten, Anna-Stina Nordmark Nilsson, said at today's press conference.

-If these fail, it will be worrying for us. Then we have to move the care from Tornedalen to other operations in the county and then this leads to extra strain on those operations. It is also extremely important for the municipalities, says Anna-Stina Nordmark Nilsson.

The Norrbotten Region is now doing everything in its power to persuade the Finnish government to continue to allow some commuting across the border.

- We assist in sending supporting documents so that the government can negotiate with the Finnish government.

- We will also be positive and offer some intensive care, which we understand can be a worry in Northern Finland, says Anna-Stina Nordmark Nilsson, regional director in Norrbotten.
