• Salud.Coronavirus in Spain, last minute: Monago denounces that there is an "order to hide the real number" of deaths in Extremadura

The time to incinerate the corpses of people killed by coronavirus is already two weeks in Madrid, according to several of the funeral parlors in the capital. Specifically, a family that lost its father last Sunday, March 29, has received the date for its cremation next Sunday, April 12. What's more, another funeral parlor in the capital is moving bodies in vans to a crematorium in Bilbao for cremation due to the impossibility of doing so in the 24 crematoriums in the Community of Madrid.

"The bodies are being taken in vans that hold up to four bodies to take advantage of the trip, but at all times the deceased are informed of the place where the body of their loved one is going to be cremated," added funeral sources.

All in all, the municipal funeral company assures that in their case they are taking at most 48 to 72 hours to incinerate the bodies because they have seven ovens distributed in the La Almudena cemeteries and the South cemetery . In this last cemetery, the funeral company has even started the crematorium that was only used for the remains of the deceased to try to find a way out of the high mortality registered by the capital as a result of those killed by coronavirus.

Likewise, all funeral homes have reinforced their staff and have hired more staff, especially drivers, to provide all services. "There are companies where workers are doubling shifts and only one day a week is spent," says one of the employees of a funeral home. "We are doing 60 hours a week but we know that it is a specific moment and we have to make an effort," adds another worker.

Due to the flood of dead, the four private funeral homes in the capital are asking the municipal funeral home to incinerate the corpses hired by these companies to clear the dead traffic jam. The municipal funeral home and four private ones operate in the capital: Parcesa, Los Remedios, Interfunerarias and Servisa.

People who lose a relative contact their death insurance or otherwise any of the five funeral homes directly. Funeral homes ensure that prices have been maintained.
