Abdul Malik Al-Mikhlafi, advisor to Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, called on Wednesday, the UN envoy to his country Martin Griffiths, to submit his resignation if he failed to persuade the Houthi group to stop the ceasefire.

This came in a tweet from al-Mikhlafi on his Twitter account, in which he wrote, "Because of Corona and the pandemic facing humanity, the cease-fire has stopped in all countries that are living wars. In Yemen, legitimacy agreed to a ceasefire, but Houthi continued fighting and killing everywhere." ".

"My dear Martin Griffiths ... If you cannot persuade al-Houthi to stop the fire in these circumstances, you must admit failure and resign," al-Mikhlafi continued.

On the other hand, the Yemeni Foreign Minister, Muhammad al-Hadrami, welcomed the invitation of the United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, and his Special Envoy, to hold an urgent meeting to discuss the ceasefire to confront the dangers of Corona.

Al-Hadrami said - via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs account on Twitter - that the government is keen to spare Yemen the catastrophic consequences of the epidemic.

He added that welcoming this initiative does not mean accepting that it will take advantage of what he described as the Houthi militias and try to kidnap them for political gains.

It is noteworthy that, on March 23, Guterres called on all countries that have wars to cease and devote themselves to confront the Coruna virus, as "a common global enemy."

However, the international call did not receive a response in Yemen, as the Houthi military spokesman, Yahya Sari, announced in a statement on Sunday that the group "bombed economic and military targets in Jizan, Najran and Asir, in southern Saudi Arabia, with a large number of Badr missiles and bombers."

He said that sensitive targets were bombed in Riyadh with "Zulfikar" missiles and "Samad 3" (Al-Masirah) planes, in an operation he considered the major military in the Saudi rear during 2020.

On the other hand, the Saudi-Emirati coalition confirmed the interception of two ballistic missiles launched by the Houthis on the cities of Riyadh and Jizan.
