- It is so important, because if I do not do it in the near future, I will be wheelchair-bound, which is very tough to know, says Hanna Dahlstedt.

She has had knee problems for 15 years and tried to lose weight and exercise, but that has not helped. She can walk 200 meters without crutches before she has to sit down.

- It's stressful, I can't ride a bike, not run and not be with my nine-year-old boy and run in the woods and play football and everything a child wants, says Hanna Dahlstedt.

150 operations are canceled each week

NU Healthcare cancels about 150 planned surgeries each week as a result of the health care system reducing the care to the most necessary.

In NU healthcare, ie at the hospitals in Trollhättan and Uddevalla, planned care is postponed, which can wait without the condition deteriorating. Similar priorities are made during normal summer periods. For example, surgeries related to hernia, cataracts, hearing-enhancing measures, sterilizations, orthopedic prosthetic surgery and spine are displaced.

The angular operation is necessary

Hanna Dahlstedt has slanted legs that allow the legs to pull in different directions and this creates a strain on the legs. Therefore, she would do an angular surgery at Uddevalla Hospital a few weeks ago. But the operation time was canceled at short notice. The day before, she received a call from the doctor in charge.

Hanna: "I wouldn't want to be in a hospital now"

At the same time, she has full understanding that the procedure was canceled as a result of the concern about the spread of the corona virus.

- It sounds awful, but I wouldn't want to be in a hospital now and know that the risk of maybe getting infected is very high. No god, I don't want to. So it's probably a wise decision anyway, ”says Hanna Dahlstedt.
