The transfer of coronavirus patients to the Ifema field hospital continues from the different medical centers in Madrid to avoid saturation. And one of the means of transport chosen for this transfer is the EMT buses that the City Council of the capital has given to the Military Emergency Unit ( UME ) and the Samur .

Specifically, four vehicles have been loaned from the municipal company, confirm sources from the Environment and Mobility Area, which are being used to transfer these patients with low-risk situations to the field hospital of the fairgrounds. Three of these buses are managed by the UME and a fourth is managed by Samur .

This Tuesday, transfers are being made from the Gregorio Marañón Hospital, the San Carlos Clinical Hospital, the Infanta Sofía Hospital and the Príncipe de Asturias Hospital in Alcalá de Henares, they point out in the military unit. Some transfers in this form of transport that "have been going on for several days" from different hospital centers in the Community of Madrid, affirm Gregorio Marañón.

In the Environment and Mobility Area of the City Council of the capital they indicate that they have made these four vehicles available to the Army and the Samur, but that management depends entirely on these two institutions. Thus, the driving of vehicles and the transfer corresponds to these organizations and not to the Municipal Transport Company.

Last week the Municipal Transport Company and the Regional Transport Consortium already set up buses for the transfer of health personnel to Ifema to carry out their work in the field hospital. A tour that started at Atocha station with three intermediate stops at Cibeles, Nuevos Ministerios and Plaza Castilla until reaching the fairgrounds.

A fairground that houses the largest field hospital deployed by the Army in the Community of Madrid, to which has been added another in the vicinity of the Prince of Asturias of Alcalá de Henares managed by Doctors without Borders and a third that is being deployed in the Gregorio Marañón Hospital.

Following complaints from doctors, the situation has improved at Ifema's field hospital. The Amyts union, the majority in the sector, has claimed that the material is being delivered in neat rows with separation spaces and that lockers have been established.

This union denounced yesterday that the doctors had to change their clothes in overcrowded locker rooms and that the sanitation tunnel for the toilets had been removed. "Ifema is a necessary service, but with the maximum security for our professionals and the greatest diligence in caring for patients," said Alicia Martín, president of the Primary Care sector at Amyts.
