The International Olympic Committee and the IOC held a four-way talk yesterday (30th) by phone with the Japanese government, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee.

At this meeting, the IOC agreed with the Japanese side to hold the Tokyo Olympics from July 23 to August 8 of next year.

Considering that the opening date scheduled for this year is July 24th, it has been postponed for one year.

[Mori / Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee Chairperson: The schedule is an important part of the preparation. I'm sure the preparation will be faster because I decided on an early schedule.]

The Japanese side once reviewed the plan to hold in May next year to avoid the extreme heat, but if the Corona 19 situation is delayed, the competition should be postponed again. Considering that it was difficult for them to compete, opinions were gathered to be held on July 23.

We also considered that it would be easy to find more than 80,000 volunteers because it is a summer vacation period when it opens in late July.

The Paralympic Games, which will be held after the Tokyo Olympics, will open on August 24th of next year and continue until September 5.
