That more and more patients are being cared for in a different department than they should be. This means that healthcare professionals are allowed to spend time on something other than caring for the patient.

- An extra amount of time is spent looking for those who should be connected to this patient. For example, if a stroke patient ends up in the stroke department, this happens automatically, but if he instead ends up in the surgery department, someone must take responsibility to make sure everyone who needs to be connected is, ”says Camilla Perland.

"Giant Seriously"

According to the Inspectorate for Health and Care, IVO, patients who are cared for in departments other than the one they should have a 60 to 70 percent higher risk of being injured by health injuries, something that the union considers seriously.

- It's very serious. We see that care times are increasing and patient safety is decreasing because it is not the right competence to care for the patient, says Camilla Perland.

Requires better working conditions

The lack of care places is largely due to the lack of nurses. Now, the Health Care Association wants the region to become a more attractive workplace for attracting nurses to the county.

- You have to make it attractive to take up an employment in the Blekinge region and it must not go down much at the time with the review that you are doing about what we should have for care places, says Camilla Perland.
