It is noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin, in an address to the Russians in connection with the situation around the coronavirus COVID-19, said that payments on disability sheets should be calculated based on the amount of at least one minimum wage (12130 rubles) per month.
“The new procedure for calculating payments will be applied as early as April 2020,” the Ministry of Labor said in a statement.
According to the ministry, an improvement in the terms of payment for sick leave could affect 2.3 million people.
“This will protect the rights of citizens with low salaries or short work experience,” said Minister of Labor and Social Protection Anton Kotyakov.
Earlier, the first deputy chairman of the Federation Council committee on social policy, Valery Ryazansky, in an interview with RT, commented on Putin’s appeal to the Russians.
