Lake Chad: fierce fighting between the army and Boko Haram in Bouma

The Chadian army and elements of Boko Haram clashed at length this Monday, March 23, in Bouma, a locality in Lake Chad. According to concordant sources, the clashes lasted several hours before the army managed to repel the attackers.

The attackers arrived early Monday March 23 in motorized boats and attacked the Chadian forces by surprise, which retaliated. But at daybreak, the fighting intensified, forcing the loyalists to call for reinforcements. But the jihadists resisted.

The aviation then went into action to disperse the assailants who broke through. In the middle of the afternoon, the Chadian forces finally took over and forced the enemy to retreat. There was breakage. Civilians as well as soldiers, ”says an officer contacted by RFI .

Until the end of the day, the search and evacuation of the wounded was underway. The General Staff of the armies indicates that they do not yet have a balance sheet because the sweeping is not yet finished.
