The University Hospital of Würzburg in Germany put a nursing home under its care, after the death of nine inmates in the home after they contracted the emerging Coronavirus virus.

The hospital said in a statement issued late yesterday, that "the wave of infection affected the nursing home when the virus (Covid-19) was still rare in Germany."

The hospital added that he would take all hygiene measures: “But of course, controlling the disease and nursing staff in a nursing home is a lot more difficult than in hospitals equipped with infectious diseases, equipped with medical and nursing teams around the clock.”

The hospital has currently placed five inmates in the home inside the infection control unit, and stated that the result of the virus detection test on 10 of the inmates was positive, and that they needed careful care.

"We are ready to provide clinical care for the guests if required, but I commend the nursing team at the home who has continuously presented these accomplishments, even as they are at risk of infection that is not very dangerous for younger groups," said University of Medical Director George Ertl.
