The Dutch government sent a message to its citizens on Sunday urging them to stay in their homes as much as possible to restrict the spread of the new Corona virus (Covid-19), amid fears that citizens will not adhere to advice not to leave.

"Protect yourself and others," the message said. Together we can defeat Corona. ”

Cities and councils are calling on citizens to stop going to parks and beaches, and to travel with trains only if absolutely necessary.

In Amsterdam, parking lots near beaches were closed and people were returned to their homes.

The Dutch government did not impose a curfew to contain the Corona epidemic, but it urged citizens to avoid social contact and to keep a distance of no less than 1.5 meters between each person.

As of Saturday, the Netherlands had registered 3,600 cases of corona, as well as 136 deaths.
