China News Agency, Beijing, March 21 (Reporter Li Yanan) Ou Hong, director of the Investment Department of the National Development and Reform Commission, said in Beijing on the 21st that, as of March 20, the resumption rate of key national projects had reached 89.1%.

The State Council ’s joint prevention and control mechanism held a press conference on the same day to introduce the start of the major investment projects and resume work.

Ou Hong said at the press conference that due to the new crown pneumonia epidemic, it is difficult for major projects to resume work after the Spring Festival. With the concerted efforts of all parties, the resumption rate of major projects has gradually recovered. Except for Hubei, according to statistics on about 11,000 key projects in various provinces, as of March 20, the rate of resumption of key projects was 89.1%.

He also pointed out that although the resumption rate of key projects under construction is gradually increasing, the situation in different regions and industries is still uneven; the construction intensity of some projects is still gradually recovering.

Ou Hong introduced that the current rate of resumption of key projects in the southern region is 98.1%, and that of key projects in the northern region is 60.3%, which is relatively low. In addition to being affected by the epidemic situation, mainly the Northeast, Northwest and other regions are still entering the construction period.

Ou Hong said that in terms of different industries, major railway projects have basically resumed, and a number of major railway projects such as the Beijing-Shenzhen high-speed railway are under construction.

Major highway and water transportation projects resumed at a rate of 97%. A number of major highway projects, including the Beijing-Xiongan Expressway, have resumed work and accelerated. The return rate of airport projects is 87%. The third phase of Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport will continue to operate during the Spring Festival. The return rate of major water conservancy projects was 86%. Major water conservancy projects, such as the Diversion Project from the Yangtze River to the Huai River, and the Central Yunnan Water Diversion Project, have resumed construction.

Major energy projects have basically resumed work. The middle section of the Sino-Russian Eastern Gas Pipeline has resumed. The Wudongde Hydropower Project with a total investment of 95 billion yuan has been fully resumed. Major foreign investment projects have basically resumed work. BMW's largest production base in the world, the third plant of the Shenyang Brilliance BMW Plant, is stepping up after the resumption of work on February 17. (Finish)
