During the confinement period, the metropolis ensures 100% garbage collection. - E. Frisullo / 20 Minutes

Parking, garbage collection, food markets ... Since the transition from France to confinement, the metropolitan area of Lyon and the city of Lyon have had to adjust the functioning of their public services, essential on a daily basis. Here is the list of those that are still running but are idling.

Free surface parking since Thursday

"To simplify the daily life of residents and respect for confinement" and to "facilitate priority travel", the city of Lyon has decided to suspend paid parking on the roads. A measure that took effect on Thursday. Concretely, if you have a valid ticket, there is no risk of taking a ticket. It will be automatically extended by a period equal to the number of days of confinement imposed by public health measures.

Paid on-street parking is suspended to facilitate priority travel and the parking of vehicles for individuals staying at their homes.

The LPA underground car parks remain open, but there have been no announcements regarding their free service.

Garbage collection 100% guaranteed, recycling centers closed

Priority is given to waste collection. In fact, street cleaning operations are no longer as important and are now only 30% complete. To ensure the best garbage collection, the metropolitan area of Lyon called on the goodwill of its cleaning agents, who are now less in demand. "Some have volunteered to collect and are now in the process of training," she said. No change either for the collection of sorting which is therefore not slowed down.

However, the recycling centers have been closed to the public since Tuesday noon. The other occasional waste collection services, namely mobile recycling centers, river recycling centers and voluntary green waste collection points, are suspended until further notice.

Vélo'V in service, electric cars stationary

If the self-service bicycle service is maintained for the time being, in particular to allow caregivers to move around, those of car-sharing (Bluely, Citiz and Yea!) Are suspended and inaccessible online. Reservations made for the next 15 days are canceled but will be free of charge for users.

Authorized markets but ...

If the weekly markets have been suspended in the city of Bourg-en-Bresse, this is not yet the case in Lyon and in the surrounding cities. Only stalls with basic foodstuffs are allowed to sell. The others, who offer clothing for example, will have to suspend their activities. Consumers, on the other hand, must now comply with more stringent rules such as putting a meter away at least. And the stalls were further apart.

However, the situation could change if the authorities find that there is too much traffic. On Wednesday, the Minister of Health Olivier Véran announced that the government would be forced to close certain markets "where we see crowds" or "which have a lot of stalls", to avoid gatherings, while the stores of food remains open. It is the prefects who have the authority to make these "closure" decisions.
