The National Authority for Emergency and Crisis and Disaster Management and the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments, in coordination with the federal and local religious and health authorities, decided to suspend prayers in mosques, chapels, places of worship and their facilities throughout the country temporarily, starting yesterday at nine in the evening for a period of four weeks, in order to ensure the safety of individuals and health the society.

The decision comes in implementation of the precautionary and preventive measures taken by the UAE in the face of the new Corona virus «Covid 19», and in compliance with the national and humanitarian responsibility, and based on the instructions of the Ministry of Health and Community Protection and the Fatwa of the Emirates Council for Legal Fatwa, in coordination with the federal and local religious and health authorities. The decision to suspend prayers in mosques, chapels, places of worship and their facilities will be reviewed four weeks from now. The Authority and the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments called on citizens, residents and visitors alike to comply with this directive, which is in the interest of the security of the homeland and society and the health of its members in light of the current conditions in which the world lives. To that, the Ministry of Health and Community Protection and the National Authority for Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management have called for the postponement of all weddings and social events in the wedding halls designated for that, and event halls and hospitality in hotels and homes temporarily, as of next Wednesday for a period of four weeks, to be re- Evaluation and review based on developments in the public health situation at the time.
