A car accident killed a Korean woman in Malta, a Mediterranean island bordering Italy.

According to local media and the Korean Embassy in Italy, the Citroen C1 car crashed on the northern cliffs of Malta Island around 8 am on the 13th.

The passenger car is said to be in flames after the crash.

Local police have found that a 40-year-old Korean woman died in the accident.

The woman is known to live in the Baltic region of central Malta.

The Korean Embassy in Italy, which has jurisdiction over Malta, said, "We have not received any official notice from Malta, but it has been found informally that Koreans are right."

The embassy is working with the Maltese police to investigate the exact nature of the accident.
