A statue of Lenin will be installed this Saturday in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. After a court battle against local authorities, the Marxist-Leninist Party of Germany (MLPD) has obtained court authorization to install the monument, reports The Guardian .
"The Communist leader Lenin is representative of violence, repression, terror and immense human suffering," argued the city council. "All this makes it incompatible with the free democratic constitutional order of Germany, and means that it is a symbol of the struggle against our democracy. "

But justice has won the case for the Leninist party. The statue will be unveiled just before the 150th anniversary of Lenin's birth on April 22. "We are really happy," rejoiced Gabi Fechtner, leader of the MLPD. “Gelsenkirchen is a city of workers and Lenin has its place there. "
This 2.15 m high work was done in 1930. It will be installed in front of the premises of the MLPD. The municipal council can still appeal against the court decision. If not, it would be the first statue of Lenin installed in ex-West Germany, specifies Slate .
