She said that the peoples of Russia and Belarus have much in common.

“And the common historical past, and the proximity of our cultures, languages, and our common world, and our spiritual values. And this is our common victory, the Great Victory over fascism unites us very much, ”Matvienko said.

She noted that Russians and Belarusians equally honor this memory.

“We equally remember those who laid their heads for the victory over fascism, those who fought for the freedom of our countries, this speaks of the high spirituality of the Belarusian people and the peoples of Russia, of high morality, which we, fortunately, did not lose,” added the speaker of the Federation Council.

Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and his Belarusian counterpart Sergei Rumas held a telephone conversation, during which they discussed integration issues.
