Recently, heavy rains in places such as Guaruja in southeastern Brazil caused geological disasters such as mudslides. As of the 8th local time, heavy rains have killed 41 people and missing 39 people, leaving more than 400 local residents homeless.

Due to the severe rescue situation, the Brazilian government sent troops to Guaruja, the worst affected area, on the 7th to participate in the rescue operation. Debris flows washed down roads in Guaruja, blocked vehicle traffic, and disrupted electricity, water and communications. In order to search for the remains of the missing and the victims, rescue soldiers and local residents had to clear the site by hand with the help of large excavation tools. At present, search and rescue work is continuing.
