As of March 3, the average daily disposal capacity of medical waste across the country was 5948.5 tons, which was an increase of 1045.7 tons compared to the daily average of 4902.8 tons before the epidemic. Among them, the average daily disposal capacity of medical waste in Hubei Province has increased from 180 tons before the epidemic to 663.7 tons, and Wuhan City has increased from 50 tons per day before the epidemic to 261.7 tons. Since January 20, a total of 123,000 tons of medical waste have been disposed of throughout the country.

On March 3, a total of 3135.7 tons of medical waste was collected nationwide, of which 570.4 tons of medical waste were sent to designated medical institutions; on the same day, 3157.7 tons of medical waste were disposed of nationwide (including 22 tons of temporary storage the day before). All waste is transferred and disposed of in a timely manner. Hubei Province disposes of 401 tons of medical waste on the same day. 209.7 tons of medical waste generated in Wuhan were collected, transported and disposed of on the same day. As of March 2, all the 192 tons of medical waste accumulated in Wuhan in the previous period have been cleared, transported and disposed of.

There are 2767 designated hospitals in 31 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government) and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, 2124 urban sewage treatment plants receiving sewage from designated hospitals, and 6,259 centralized isolation sites. Through investigation, a total of 343 problems in three major categories were found, and all rectifications were completed. At present, the treatment and disposal of medical wastewater nationwide is stable and orderly, and disinfection measures are strictly implemented.

According to the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, a total of 11,474 drinking water sources have been monitored, and no water quality situation has been found in drinking water sources affected by epidemic prevention and control. Residual chlorine monitoring was carried out in 1,562 drinking water sources, and affected by the killing work carried out by the epidemic prevention and control. Residual chlorine in 47 drinking water sources was detected, but the concentrations were lower than the water supply standard of 0.3 milligrams per liter of water plants No residual chlorine was detected in other drinking water sources. Hubei Province has monitored 125 water sources, and the water quality has reached or exceeded Class III standards.
