This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany Rainer Brogl.

According to him, Russia plays one of the central roles in the conflict and its participation is necessary to find a political solution, however, the line of conduct of the Russian side is currently “wrong” and Berlin wants Moscow to adjust its course.

“We want to adjust the course of Russia. This is a topic that we are raising in negotiations with Russia, ”Brogl said.

At the same time, he noted that it is impossible to take any actions that could complicate the resolution of the conflict with respect to Moscow.

“We will carefully study proposals on how to increase Russia's readiness for a political solution, while at the same time, one cannot do things that can complicate the resolution of the conflict,” Brogl said.

In turn, the German Ministry of Defense said that first it is necessary to discuss all possible options, and "then make a decision."

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel held a telephone conversation during which they discussed the situation in the Idlib de-escalation zone and expressed hope for a successful Russian-Turkish meeting in Moscow on March 5.

On March 1, the leader of the Christian-Democratic Union (CDU) ruling party in Germany, Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, called on the EU and the United States to increase pressure on Russian and Syrian leaders Vladimir Putin and Bashar al-Assad.
