1200 homes will be built with commercial ground floors and a pre-school, as well as shops and restaurants. Demolition work is expected to last for between six and nine months.

Detention for criminals

But during the time that the center has been closed down, there has been concern about the facility. The police have alerted about crime that has been going on in the center and made demands for changes to the property owners Veidekke to reduce the crime.

The police have then suggested that the property owner initiate the demolition or to close the area.

- Since the last tenant moved, we have been dedicated to trying to protect this property based on our ability. We have had surveillance and plastered the house again, but we have had extensive damage and you go in and steal copper cables, says Stefan Lifvergren, project development manager at Veidekke.
