The price increase is a result of the government's decision to introduce an excise tax of SEK 3 per plastic carrier. Even the smaller "fruit bags" will become more expensive as the tax there is increased by 30 cents.

- I think it will cause sales to fall, there could probably be about 25 percent who continue to buy cash, says trader Mats Axelsson.

Right now the shop is working on developing some kind of complement to the plastic bags. According to Mats Axelsson, sales have already decreased somewhat as customers become more and more environmentally conscious.

"I'd rather buy new ones"

Jesse Carl always buys new plastic bags and doesn't think the tax increase is a good proposal.

- I'd rather buy new ones because it's easier so you don't have to bring along, he says.

What should you do instead?

- We should perhaps invest in the environment in other countries because Sweden is already so good at it, says Jesse Carl.
