The collision with the fishing vessel of Japanese nationality took place around 22 hours (local time). The causes of the incident are still unknown, the spokesman said. Guoxing 1 had a crew of 14 Chinese and Vietnamese.

Thirteen of them are missing. A Vietnamese sailor was rescued by a boat that was passing by at the time of the incident. However, the 15 crew members of the Japanese fishing boat are all safe.
