The Commander of Anbar Operations for the Popular Mobilization, Qassem Musleh, announced yesterday the launch of a military operation to eliminate ISIS militants west of Anbar Governorate.

And Musleh said, "Four brigades of the Popular Mobilization, in cooperation with a number of classes, will participate in the operation that bore the name of Operation Victory Leaders."

He pointed out that "terrorist groups are trying to restore their activities in Anbar province, but we will prevent that, and a number of terrorist targets will be eliminated within the operations of the victory leaders, which were identified after exploring the area for two days."

On the other hand, the protests that started in Iraq in October 2019 to demand a change in the political class and wide reforms have sparked a wave of false news on social media.

In this context of the demanding protests, hundreds of Facebook users circulated a picture of a child walking on a wide pipe lying in the ground in a miserable area as an Iraqi child looking for food, to indicate the deterioration of living conditions, but in fact it is taken in India.

As the protesters denounce the Iranian interference in their country, a picture has surfaced on the media as showing a high-ranking military official kissing the hand of an Iranian official, but in reality it shows the Iraqi official kissing a wounded hand in the crowd.

On the other hand, there have been leaflets accusing the protesters of misleading the media, including a video clip that its publishers say are protesters dying their faces to claim that they were beaten, but in reality it was picked up during a field training in a hospital in Najaf in cooperation with MSF.

Images also circulated as showing protesters painting their faces to accuse the security forces of beating them, but this was taken from a play that was shown in Tahrir Square in Baghdad.

Pictures were also posted on the communication sites as showing the arrest of a "terrorist network" aimed at "igniting discord" between the demonstrators and the security forces, but this was previously taken and has nothing to do with the protests.
