German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, today, Thursday, held talks with the President of the Sudanese Sovereign Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, in Khartoum, in a remarkable transformation of Sudan's relationship with Western countries.

The talks dealt with Germany's role in supporting Sudan to achieve peace and improving the economic situation, and what Germany can play in removing Sudan from the list of countries that sponsor terrorism.

Al-Burhan described the visit as a real beginning to return to the international community. He affirmed Sudan’s keenness to upgrade and enhance joint cooperation with Germany. He praised the support and support of Berlin and the European Union to overcome the current challenges.

The German President confirmed his country's readiness to support and support Sudan to lift the embargo on it. He praised Sudan's experience in the field of democratic transformation.

He also called on the international community to help Sudan join international organizations and overcome the obstacles of the past.

The German President talked about the importance of the world realizing what happened in Sudan.

Steinmeier is to hold talks with Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdock.

Germany is expected to provide economic and political assistance to Khartoum. Hamdock considered Steinmeier's visit a blow to the development of advanced relations, calling on world and European officials to visit the country.

President Steinmeier arrived today at the Sudanese capital, on a two-day official visit, to enhance mutual relations between the two countries.

The era of openness
Steinmeier's visit to Sudan is a great opening in the relations between the two countries, and the culmination of German engagement with Sudan in the post-revolution period that toppled the regime of President Omar al-Bashir last April.

Last September, German Foreign Minister Haikou Maas visited Khartoum, accompanied by a large delegation of thirty officials, to enhance cooperation relations between the two countries.

In February, German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Gerald Muller visited Khartoum and met the Sudanese Prime Minister.

And from Khartoum, the highest Mueller that his ministry will support the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning in Sudan with an amount of eighty million euros.

Recently, a German parliamentary delegation visited Sudan and met a number of senior officials.
Last August, the Director General of the Department of Africa, Latin America and the Middle and Near East of the German Foreign Ministry visited the country.

It is noteworthy that the German parliament agreed earlier to lift the ban that was imposed on Sudan.
