A man, aged 40 and living outside Helsingborg, was sentenced this fall to prison for serious arms crime.

But the man appealed against the verdict, referring to a medical certificate stating that he was suffering from memory difficulties following an accident.

Four weapons in the home

The High Court of Skåne and Blekinge does not question that the man has trouble remembering everyday things such as action lists and booked times, but considers it highly unlikely that he forgot that he had ammunition, two guns - one with fully loaded magazine - in his bedroom and two rifles. in their basement.

According to the man, he found the weapons in a storage room in an association where he practiced. He had intended to hand over the weapons to the police, but forgot to do so. Instead, they stayed in his home. But neither does that explanation judge the court of law as particularly probable.

On the other hand, the High Court considers that the penalty value is lower than the district court's finding. Therefore, the sentence is reduced from one year and four months to one year in prison.
