Alarm about tough location at the Vrinevis Hospital

The safety representatives for nurses and nurses at the Vrinevis Hospital's medical clinic in Norrköping now require that the Swedish Work Environment Authority intervene to adapt resources to increased care requirements.

In his report, the safety representatives describe a daily life with stress and unsustainable working environment. The staff group suffers from stress-related symptoms due to overcrowding, lack of recovery and schedules that are partly said to be illegal.

Risking patient safety

The resources at the clinic are not adapted for the care being taken, the safety ombudsman says, and states that the situation risks patient safety.

The safety ombudsman requires that a survey of the organizational and social work environment be carried out in order to get a common picture of the work situation, how they feel and how they experience the work environment and patient safety.

"We have a very difficult situation"

- We have a very difficult situation in health care in general. We know about the work injury notification and have worked with it together with the unions. We will meet at the end of this month and continue with the action plan, ”says Lena Ekström, operations manager of the medicine clinic in Norrköping.

At the same time, she says they take the situation seriously.

- We have a fantastic staff and I have great respect for them feeling this way and we take this very seriously, she tells SVT News East.
