The prefecture of the Pyrénées-Orientales has authorized the holding of the giant Carles Puigdemont meeting, scheduled for February 29 in Perpignan, learned 20 Minutes .

"A demonstration may be prohibited by prefectural decree in the event of force majeure manifestly breaching public order," indicate the services of the prefecture. As the declared demonstration does not fall within these criteria, the prefecture respected the principle of freedom of demonstration by not prohibiting the meeting. A large car park available

More than 70,000 people are expected, according to the organizers, to this meeting planned on a "large parking lot" made available by the town hall of Perpignan. Many participants are expected to come from across the border on several hundred buses chartered for the occasion. Many hotels in Perpignan and the surrounding area are sold out for this event.

Carles Puigdemont, protected by his immunity as a European parliamentarian from Spanish prosecutions against him, should be accompanied by other personalities from Catalonia including the former and current presidents of the region, Artur Mas and Quim Torra.
