As noted in the department, in February anonymous users engaged in criminal activities using this service.

“On February 13, 2020, four email messages were received from this service with false threats of mining 206 objects in St. Petersburg, including the court and kindergartens of the Petrodvorets district of St. Petersburg,” the TSS Public Relations Center quotes TASS.

Last year, 58 messages were sent from the same mail service with anonymous mining threats in a number of Russian regions.

“In order to prevent the sending of knowingly false messages with mining threats, based on the submission of the Prosecutor General of Russia together with Roskomnadzor, access to the information resources of the Tutanota.com service in the Russian Federation has been limited since February 14,” the FSB summed up.

Earlier, the FSB of Russia reported that the mining service was sent from the Swiss Protonmail service.

In this regard, since January 29, Roskomnadzor and the Prosecutor General’s Office have been restricting access to it in Russia.
